Limited Series – Banned Books Club: "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark" by Alvin Schwartz In-Person
Libraries and librarians value intellectual freedom, the rights of library users to read, seek information, and speak freely as guaranteed by the First Amendment. In celebration of Banned Books Week in October (5-11), join us for a limited three session-series where we read and discuss a landmark book that has been frequently challenged or banned. Banned Books Week highlights the value of free and open access to information and brings together the entire book community — librarians, educators, authors, publishers, booksellers, and readers of all types — in shared support of the freedom to seek and to express ideas.
Although it is not required, it is recommended that attendees read the book ahead of time. At the program, library staff will provide background about bans and challenges and historical context for each title.
